Virgil Penner is known for his ink drawings of homes and buildings, with an architectural perspective. Since retirement, he has focused on acrylic landscape paintings.Virgil studied art at Newton High School under Marie Orr for four years. After college he taught and coached in Wichita High Schools and at Bethel College. Since retirement in 2009 as CEO of the Newton Chamber of Commerce he has resumed acrylic painting. His paintings are colorful and bright. You will see various styles developing as he continues to refine techniques in his paintings, with a style not as you would see in reality, but with an air of whimsy, which has gained popularity nationwide.
